May 2008, 3Peak Challenge
On the 21st June 2008 a team from Bernlite will be taking on the challenge of climbing the 3 highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in a 24 hour period, we face a gruelling 26 miles of walking at vertical climbs of around 3000 metres, not to mention an approximate drive of 475 miles between peaks, It will be very tough and we are all training hard to achieve the goal.
On the 10th May we travelled to north Wales and climbed mount Snowdon for some intensive training, it was hard work but we managed to get to the peak and back down again in under 4 hours, it was a good work out:
We plan to climb Scafell Pike before we take on the challenge of 3 peaks in 24 hours.
There is a very good reason why we have chosen to participate in this event and it is not because we are all mad (though it is a contributing factor!) The reason we are taking up the challenge is for The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust.
The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust, through its house called Treetops, provides respite and end of life care for children with life threatening illness between the ages of 0-19.
Fundraising is central to the existence of The Donna Louise Trust who, as a charity, rely solely on the generosity and goodwill of the general public for funding. To find out more about the Donna Louise Trust and the brilliant work they do please visit their website at www.donnalouisetrust.org.
There are several ways you can help out. You can simply make a donation through the just giving website at the following address: http://www.justgiving.com/bernlite3peakschallenge or send a cheque to us here at Bernlite made payable to ‘Donna Louise Trust’.
Thank you for your support.
