Bernlite History.

Founded in 1984, by Barry Glazer (Chairman), as a supplier of chokes, starters, lamp and starterholders for the sun bed industry. Operating from one office and a small section of rented warehouse.

• 1985 moved to first owned warehouse in Imperial way, Watford.

• 1985 appointed only official distributor of Tridonic lighting components to the electrical wholesale and OEM sectors.

• 1985 appointed only official distributor of Vossloh Schwabe lampholders and accessories.

• 1990 Moved into current purpose built premises.

• 1989 appointed official distributor of Mode Lighting.

• 1990 appointed official distributor of Smart & Brown (later known as Atlas Lighting – OEM division of Thorn Lighting), with emphasis on supplying OEM’s with chokes, starter and lampholders, capacitors and associated accessories.

• April 1992 appointed official wholesale distributor of Orbik Electronics.

• March 1995 appointed official wholesale distributor of Helvar Electrosonic.

• June 1996 appointed official Osram Control Gear distributor.

• February 1998 appointed official Philips Lighting Control Gear stockist.

• February 1999 appointed official Mackwell Electronics stockist.

• May 1999 appointed official wholesale distributor of Harvard Electronics (now PLC).

• December 1999 appointed official stockist of Lite-Plan.

• April 2000 appointed official wholesale distributor of HUCO Electronics.

• January 2001 – Merger of Zumtobel and Thorn Lighting with sister companies Tridonic and Atlas being merged together. Bernlite becomes the largest wholesale distributor of branded lighting control gear in the UK, and the ONLY appointed distributor of the newly created Tridonic.Atco brand incorporating the Atlas range of products.
